TADS Financial Aid application is closed for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Universal Academy of Pittsburgh is committed to developing a student body that reflects a diverse community. The school strives to enable children to attend the school regardless of their family’s financial means. To that end, the Universal Academy of Pittsburgh has a need-based Financial Aid Program. In this program, Financial Aid is awarded to students at all grade levels. Financial Aid decisions are made on the basis of need, availability of funds, and specific fund restrictions. UAP Financial Aid are intended to address tuition only and are not available for registration fees and school fees. The UAP Financial Aid Program is supported through the annual UAP operating budget and donations from the community.
To determine Financial Aid eligibility, UAP is guided by analysis of the Parents’/Guardians’ financial status performed by TADS, a well-known financial aid assessment and management company with more than 40 years of experience in financial aid evaluation and management. TADS provides excellent customer service via phone or email. TADS will manage all Financial Aid applications in order to provide UAP with a confidential and unbiased evaluation of the family’s ability to cover costs of tuition. All applications will be reviewed and assessed by the UAP Financial Aid Program Committee. The UAP Scholarship Program is need-based. Each year families must reapply and submit supporting documentation to the TADS.
The UAP Financial Aid Program Committee
The UAP Financial Aid Program Committee provides direction to and oversight of the School’s Financial Aid Program’s practices and policies. The committee works to balance the need for financial assistance with the economic health of the School. All Financial Aid awards are made by the Financial Aid Program Committee, based upon the information that families submit to and then are verified by TADS.
Statement on Confidentiality
Applications for admission are completely separate from applications for Financial Aid. The UAP will treat all financial information provided by families as confidential and secure. Applying for scholarship has no bearing on admissions decisions. No student will be denied admission because of financial need. However, as UAP’s budget for financial assistance is limited, the school may be unable to provide Financial Aid to admitted families who have expressed and documented needs for financial assistance.
Financial Aid Program Priorities
Remaining consistent with the School’s mission and values and specific fund restrictions, the granting of Financial Aid awards are guided by the following priorities:
· Qualifying students presently enrolled and currently receiving financial assistance.
· Newly-enrolled younger siblings of current UAP students who are receiving financial assistance
· Children of new UAP families who qualify for financial assistance

Overview of the Financial Aid Program
- Families should apply by June 1, 2023.
- The UAP Scholarship Committee does not discuss Financial Aid awards or make awards until the TADS application file is complete with all required supporting documentation. A delay in TADS’s receipt of a family’s supporting documents means a delay with the award process.
- Returning families must have all of their School accounts up to date in order to apply for Financial Aid for the following year.
- Returning families must have a signed contract and deposit received/confirmed by the main office.
- UAP Financial Aid is intended to address tuition only and is not available for registration fees and other school fees.
- In the case of divorced or separated parents, both the custodial and non-custodial parent needs to complete the TADS application and to provide all necessary documentation. When either parent or stepparent refuses to comply, the UAP Financial Aid Program Committee will determine if the family will be considered for financial aid.
- Complete and submit the TADS an online application for the school year 2023-2024 at https://secure.tads.com by June 1, 2023. Applicant is required to send any necessary documentation to TADS.
- There is a fee to process the financial aid application, which is paid directly by the parent/guardian to TADS. If you wish to apply by mail, a hard copy of the application can be obtained by calling TADS at 800.884.8237. An additional fee is charged for paper submissions.
- Applications received past the deadline will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if there is still funding left but the priority for scholarship awards will be given to the applications submitted before the deadline.
