What You Can DO

Main Job Function
- Follow the lesson plan(s) or assignment left by teacher and ensures students complete all assigned tasks.
- Maintain a safe environment.
- Use materials provided by school-based professional or other school personnel.
- Notify school administration of any unusual incidents which have occurred during the school day.
- Maintain accurate assessment of student attendance and grades.
- Leave information concerning the day's activities for the school-based professional.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Manage student behavior in a positive manner.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the school goals and objectives.

This is a full-time, one year (renewable) contract position. Work hours are from 7:30 am - 3:45 pm Monday-Friday.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and submit lesson plans in the approved format to the Principal, collaboration with other teachers is encouraged; Implement rigorous curriculum content to students; adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying learning styles, needs, and interests; ensure students are demonstrating knowledge and skills through projects and activities; manage a wide array of student needs and behaviors in the classroom and throughout the school; provides a safe environment for students; maintain accurate and complete records of student attendance and grades in a timely and confidential manner; develop and administer formal and informal student assessments in order to evaluate students' progress; collaborate with parents, staff, and outside professionals concerning students' progress; supervise students during fire drills; follow school procedures pertaining to duty assignments such as lunch, hall, recess, and homeroom; actively participate in team, faculty and parent meetings, workshops, in-service professional development, and other responsibilities as they arise; monitors and attends extra-curricular events and social activities; develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with building and district staff; performs additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Must pass all three background checks (criminal, child abuse, and fingerprints
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Teacher certification- completed or in process
Two or more years of teaching experience
Commitment to and experience working with students from diverse communities
Determination to drive student achievement and set high expectations for all students
Demonstrated expertise in subject area
The ability to motivate, support, and challenge students in a student-centered, standards-driven classroom community
